You can install fresh version and set old DB in config.inc.php file. And then implement patches and upgrade database only. What a version of the script are you using now?

Oooo it is more easy. Create new DB and install your script. Then Oepn file: includes>>config.inc.php find // mysql credentials
and set access from old DB. Save and check your new site again.

I've made a fresh install of V4.8 ( as my 4.7.2 was so slow: maybe some issue during the multiple updates)

How can I easly import my users and ads...?
