301 redirect

How to create a 301 in htaccess? i have similar categories in different listing type and i want to redirect one of them. I tried with classic command
Redirect 301 /category/ http://www.domain.com/new-category/ And i get a redirect loop

Have a restriction with your script? How a 301 redirect command should looks like?

Meanwhile i gave up. I just changed the name of category and lost the 1 PR I presume in the future if want to do the same i should forget about 301 redirect
