Thread: Bootstrap Theme for Flynax...

  1. #71
Every bootstrap theme is easy to modify, either through LESS or CSS. You can even have a theme selector if you want. The grid for a basic theme is easiest to start with like this http://wrapbootstrap.com/preview/WB01KF12C which is a very nice theme.

    Good morning Petrache,

    What you mean with

top area splited in 2 sections
If you mean the Full Top Area, this can you split - any way you like, as i have invented something nice.
More on this later. I work and test just the changes before i publish it here.

But a short insight i give all interested.

At page creation now a layout is assigned.
The blocks can be assigned to the areas directly.
Thus either in the sidebar, content, top or bottom.
How and where to place the box, will decide on the position and the grid declarations.
Every page or block can you give a extra class or id. Its better for designing somthing better.

Everything remains backward compatible to the flynax templates, despite the changes in the script.

try to see category page from that template ( http://czsale.sensemedia.cz/category.html) and you will see that on phones it looks bad - an ad is splited in columns wich is pretty bad becouse the description area is non existing (verry thin). overall it is ok but just a remainder that we have to pay attention to details and check it well to cover all aspects.

i propose that once Steffen will release the finished template with instructions, we all install it and sit down and check it very well to cover all functions and find any bugs. once all reported bugs are solved, we will have a pure skeleton that is perfect and from that anyone can start customising it like it wishes and so, be convinced that any issue that may apear is comming from his customisation.

Just change viewport in the theme and it will look nice. This is a benefit with bootstrap.

if you go in flynax admin area, content-content boxes, there you can use /create a new one and place it in different position like
    left
    top
    bottom
    middle left
    middle right
    right

i am using in home page 2 content boxes , one placed as middle left (field bound box - a map more precise, similar to the one used by Morgan in his website) and another as middle right (as categories).

so, will we have this freedom of choice to place the blocks from admin area where we need? as we do in flynax now.

    Of course.
That remains as it is now also.
    But in a different way.
For flynax was this side - declaration a helper for there table structure and
page layout. I'll try to use less tables so that you are flexible in design.

At bootstrap, this can be realized through additional class declarations.
    As example nested or offset...
This sounds complicated, but it is not.

Aha I see. What I meant is the in the CSS you can change viewport for the look by visual hide or show different objects in different resolutions or different media and by that, totally control how it should look like. F.i. the slider shouldn't be visible in a small smartphone but for a tablet it should. I think a retina display should be considered when mocking up a theme like this. Also you could render your layout in Photoshop and use this in the CSS. There are some smart tools for this.
For purpose testing I use Pingendo which is a free tool. You can start with simple layouts or insert downloaded layouts, fiddle the code and view it directly in the browser. When layout is ready, you upload it to your domain or XAMP or VAMP.

The Flynax bone-structure is nice as it is easy to add blocks from within the AP and together with a flexible theme, this is a killer. Imagine how many open "theme plugins" we could create.

Morgan, what i initialy said is to pay attention to the details. the template you mentioned is fine (responsive) except that area i mentioned. that's all. i know that the responsivness can be altered to fit proper on different devices but since this is a finished theme, that issue is not ok. i've sean lots of themes advertised as responsive and when you sit and digg the features.... i try to avoid this so we can have a perfect skeleton
