What is the recommended way to modify templates layouts?

For example, I want to remove the apps for Android and iOS from the footer. But I do not see anything in the admin area to remove that. Am I supposed to delete the code or is there a more "dynamic" way to modify the templates?

Yes, if it’s not in something that can be changed in admin you will need to change the files. Just keep a backup of the file before changing anything in case something goes wrong. Then you can revert it back to original code

I always do that. To start with, the template I use a copy of the original. In case of disaster I have a quick backup
