Crop images

Hi,
I need to change the behavior of crop images.
Must have effect only on the thumbnails but not on the large images.
How can I do?
Kindly someone give me the solution.

Users can upload very big images what should be if user upload images with size 5-10 Mb?
Or may be do you mean after upload images when user crop images manually system should crop only thumbnails?
