Show more/show less

I'm using auto heavy-wide template and I use only the quick search form which is long when it's shown in the search tabs on the home page.
Is it possible to make a show more/show less button so it will show/hide the full search menu and show only 2 rows of options by default?

Or if it would be possible I would just limit the number of the listing fields per listing type tab, the ones who load and form the table cells in each search tab. That would do the job too. Anyone who can help?
