google start charging for google maps - possible solution

Hi, as you probably know, google starts charging for google maps use. The new price list is located here: https://cloud.google.com/maps-platform/pricing/sheet/

Can anyone tell me what kind of API calls are used in flynax google maps functions in web script and android app. Is flynax using embed advanced or? (definition: An advanced Maps Embed API request that uses the Directions mode, Street View mode, or Search mode.). I am aware that we have Street View on flynax site.

I think we should use Embed , as its still free.

What do you think guys?

Has anyone got a solution here. I received a bill from Google and it is not cheap. Ouch.

All I can tell is that we are working now on a new map api which will become a free alternative to google maps
but it will take a while

I thought it will be free until you reach a certain amount of quota am I right? Then it cost money for the exceeding quota in that month.

correct. you get 300 USD credit from google. you need to provide your billing data (credit card). you need to setup api key.

my site increasingly consumes the maps api and my bill goes up, when will be ready to new api? or some possible solution?

That's good news. I am sure lots of us would like to show listings on a map without making the super-rich richer at Google.

Leaflet using for tiles mapbox, so you must signup for access token! I read until 50000 views is free!

I looking too for alternative Maps, but give any problem.

OpenStreetMaps is ok but dont have any Adress -> location db with hausenumber as geo coordinates :-(

so must use two services same as leaflet (OpenStrietMap and MapBox ) !

But I will look forward :-)

Excellent Rudi, hope it will be ready soon, eache day my website consumes more and more :(

I remember back in 2005, I used the google ad campaign to build traffic to my old website, and I entered my credit card at that time, and do I regret that as I got more traffic, google kept charging for continuous traffic (after a set amount was used). I thought it was just for a set amount of traffic, and that's how I bet it works with the maps as well. Be careful guys, not to say google is bad, but it's the fine print you have to be very smart with, otherwise, there's no telling what could happen. That's why what I do, and suggest most to do these days is to pay with a pre-paid card (set amount) so you know what ever they charge, you're in the clear if they 'max it out' until you are familiar with how a website works. Be it advertising, shopping, or anything else.

We are working on new maps system which supports 4 map providers currently, OpenStreetMaps, Google, Yandex and MapBox. I hope new maps will be available in next version update. You may also submit a ticket and we will apply new maps system to your site now but it will cost you extra because the feature integration will take time.
