Hi @ All,

How about a workshop for a bootstrap template here in the forum?
I think bootstrap framework is a very good choice for flynax.

We could realize it here in the forum together.
If there is interest in it, then just report here.

Best regards
Steffen

This would be a great idea for the script template also. I have been taking a few online lessons to see if I could build one myself. I was also thinking that a group of us could let Flynax develop the template and we all split the difference if they don't want to do it for free. The original templates are so boring. :(

Hello Kemoid,

I agree with you.
I hope that more people participate in this workshop.
I recommend especially Bootstrap Framework 3.
Personally, i am absolutely delighted with this framework.
The advantage would be that we create only one template, which can be both mobile, tab and desktop used.

Also for Flynax 5 would bootstrap 3 the first choice as a template framework.

Steffen Buschkemper - since flynax already started working on a responsive layout for the script, i do not think that they will switch to Bootstrap Framework 3.

Kemoid Wilson - developing 1 template is not duable becouse most of us work on having a custom template in look and posibly in functionality and so each of has has different ideeas/needs

what we all need is a second market for plugins, addons, templates, that goes for low prices, same way it happened with opencart for instance. at the begining they had only a few developers but now there are huge posibilities as templates and functionality at low prices, wich in several cases are ahead of the competition (like featured products added in main slider - added in shoppica.net i think 2-3 years ago - flynax has it now in latest auto, or ajax search autocomplete with product image - addon that exist in opencart for years, rotating product images shown in list/grid view mode and so much more)

Hello Petrache,

In a sense, you're right, but i think it does not matter that is being working on a responsive template.
Especially it will first created only for the auto script.

what we all need is a second market for plugins, addons, templates, that goes for low prices

Without decent documentation, it is difficult to get a second market for flynax.
This is i think so intended from Flynax Team.
Everything i've created in my script at this time, i have hard worked for me, because details and documentaries for this script are not published.
In a way, i understand that too.

Furthermore, i would like to open a workshop in which we (users) are working on a bootstrap template.
That has nothing to do with the flynax team and their work for a responsive auto template.

... that exist in opencart for years....

To date, flynax 4.2 has even old frameworks like smarty and phpmail.
In part, i have some updated in my script.
Much has simply not programmed user-friendly.
From today's possibilities, there is a huge pent-up demand for Flynax.

I hope that there is something going on in Flynax 5.

Steffen

Hello Morgan,

thanks for the link. I will check this out.
I hope that even more with programming experience report here.
But everyone can contribute something to this project.

I don't totally agree with you Petrache Nicolae. Most of us have customization but it is with the functionality, I think that it is possible for Flynax to develop a front end which most of us can incorporate with our current website. I hope the Flynax team would consider this. This is a great software a good template would really bring it over the edge.

Here is an example of a website I stumbled up on http://www.findthebest.com

what you seem to like i hate in general (as look) and exactly this is the problem. some may like a new template, some will not like it. what you like is something that ilance offer till a point (a ebay like script), but that script is full of bugs since all the work is done by just 1 man ( if he would had the great developers team from flynax....). but, as functionality, that is what you are looking for. i have put my project on hold after 1 year of hard work and i will probably sell that script (even if i will lose money with the license, hosting payed for years and so on).

now, getting back to flynax. flynax does't have a proper menu like megamenu (what we have in general template is a joke after me) wich is great when you have many categories. the creation of an account or an listing is done in countless steps. the selection of a category when listing is a nightmare (in the ilance project i have around 10.000 categories/subcategories wich are shown quite fine, same way as in okazii.ro or ebay. can you do this in flynax? nope...you can't properly sort the listings becouse you do not have the classic dropdowns with price, date etc (flynax way is so much "great"). you can't create proper filters for listings becouse category filter plugin allows just 1 instance. you can't make a block in wich to place just new/used and another with price and another with category atributes. up, i forgot atributes wich in flynax do not exist. atributes are specific to a category. if you have like 3-6 specific atributes/category and you have like 1000 categories or more, how will you chose what to add in listing form. so many things that could be different and much better.

flynax script is a diffrent breed and we have to work with what we have. what we really need now is a responsive layout based on flynax ideea or Bootstrap Framework 3 or other, just to fix this growing issue of different device with different resolutions and layout (pc/tablet/smartphone etc). beyound that, is just a matter of taste and how i or you prefer as look

Sorry but I think that you misunderstood my post. I am not saying that flynax should rewrite their script especially one to match the example I gave. I was just saying that flynax could incorporate a responsive template (we suggested using bootstrap 3) for the front end that looks better and is more user friendly and I gave an example of what it might look like. Remember we are only talking about the front end that's the look and feel of the software not the script itself. The example I gave is great because it fits multiply display and it eliminates the need for a mobile version of the original website which in my case has errors like the main website.

Hello Petrache,

Id like to briefly say that anything is possible with flynax script.
But for someone with no programming knowledge, unfortunately - impossible.
The Flynax team also makes everything possible - of course against payment.

I would rather pay for a plugin rather than additional programming more useful features directly in the script.
That should be free programmed in a fully functional script.
Especially since i was shocked at my last request - $110 i should have to pay if i did not programmed itself.
There were only 10 lines of code for this customization. But OK.

Therefore, there is no developer manual for flynax script.
It's all about money. But it is also understandable.

All hope and suggestions in relation to Flynax 5 will not be realized by flynax team.
Sometimes i have the feeling that they are simply ignored.

This is also reflected in the 4.2 version.
Existing error of 4.1 were adopted and new problems were added.
The work flow at Flynax seems to be chaotic.
I'm just saying it is a disgrace that was delivered there.

For inquiry in the forum it says only open ticket or the server configuration is the problem.
But the problems are most other nature.
All Customizations must be rewritten in current versions.
That can not really be. That is a cost circulation.

A fully functional script. with all the features that provides the competitors can prevent something like this.
Listen and realize what customer requests can prevent something like this.

Hello Kemoid,

The example I gave is great because it fits multiply display and it eliminates the need for a mobile version of the original website which in my case has errors like the main website.

Precisely this example also shows the following.
The script will be slimmer, because much can be deleted.
Especially this extra mobile part ;)

Hello Guys

I have started for test with the bootstrap template.
Here are two examples of bootstrap code:

1. Keyword Search Block ( keyword_search.tpl )

Bootstrap Code

774

<!-- keyword search block -->
<form method="post" action="{$rlBase}{if $config.mod_rewrite}{$pages.search}.html{else}?pag e={$pages.search}{/if}">
<input type="hidden" name="form" value="keyword_search" />
<div class="input-group">
<input class="form-control" type="text" name="f[keyword_search]" placeholder="{$lang.keyword_search}" {if $smarty.post.f.keyword_search}value="{$smarty.post.f.keyword_search}"{/if} >
<div class="input-group-btn">
<button type="submit" class="btn btn-default" name="search" tabindex="-1"><span class=" glyphicon glyphicon-search"></span></button>
<button type="button" class="btn btn-default dropdown-toggle" title="{$lang.advanced_options}" data-toggle="dropdown" tabindex="-1"> <span class="caret"></span> </button>
<ul class="dropdown-menu pull-right" role="menu">
<div class="btn-group" data-toggle="buttons">
{assign var='tmp' value=3}
{section name='keyword_opts' loop=$tmp max=3}
<label class="btn btn-primary {if $fVal.keyword_search_type || $keyword_mode}{if $smarty.section.keyword_opts.iteration == $fVal.keyword_search_type || $keyword_mode == $smarty.section.keyword_opts.iteration}active{/if}{else}{if $smarty.section.keyword_opts.iteration == 2}active{/if}{/if}" title="{assign var='ph' value='keyword_search_opt'|cat:$smarty.section.key word_opts.iteration}{$lang.$ph}" id="option{$smarty.section.keyword_opts.iteration}">
<input {if $fVal.keyword_search_type || $keyword_mode}{if $smarty.section.keyword_opts.iteration == $fVal.keyword_search_type || $keyword_mode == $smarty.section.keyword_opts.iteration}checked="checked"{/if}{else}{if $smarty.section.keyword_opts.iteration == 2}checked="checked"{/if}{/if} type="radio" name="f[keyword_search_type]" id="option{$smarty.section.keyword_opts.iteration}" value="{$smarty.section.keyword_opts.iteration}">{strip}Option {$smarty.section.keyword_opts.iteration}{/strip}</label>
{/section}</div>
</ul>
</div>
</div>
</form>
<!-- keyword search block -->

2. Language Selector ( lang_selector.tpl )

Bootstrap Code

775

773

<!-- languages selector -->
{if $languages|@count > 1}
<div class="btn-group navbar-right languages">
<button class="btn"><i class="cc-{$smarty.const.RL_LANG_CODE|lower}"></i>{$languages[$smarty.const.RL_LANG_CODE].name}</button>
<button type="button" class="btn dropdown-toggle" data-toggle="dropdown" tabindex="-1"> <span class="caret"></span> </button>
<ul class="dropdown-menu" role="menu">
{foreach from=$languages item='lang_item'}
{if $lang_item.Code|lower != $smarty.const.RL_LANG_CODE|lower}
<li><a href="{if $lang_url_home}{$lang_url_home}{else}{$smarty.cons t.RL_URL_HOME}{/if}{if $config.mod_rewrite}{$lang_item.dCode}{$pageLink|r eplace:'&':'&amp;'}{else}?language={$lang_item.Code}{/if}" class="btn btn-xs"><i class="cc-{$lang_item.Code|lower}"></i>{$lang_item.name}</a></li>
{/if}
{/foreach}
</ul>
</div>
{/if}

First of all i have olso noticed an increase of prices for any customisations. i guess is a new trend. Second, even if there are things that i do not like, the flynax script/team is way way over ilance, an script that offers bigger posibilities but has even worse issues at a huge price compared to flynax script. as for customisations prices i can provide 1 example. when i buyed the ilance script, it didn't had a image viewer. so i asked the price for adding anything and the price asked was 500$!!! of corse i can give example from flynax where i was told 800+$ for a ajax one page submit form (wich we should had from the beginning). but, in the end, flynax script and team are way more flexible than others. and i have worked with oscommerce, opencart and magento as well.

regarding the lack of developer manual, that is unforgivable since in the end, how many of their customers do know how to program a specific feature. css changes and maybe light changes i belive that can be done by few customers, hard codding is done only by you (as far as i've seen), so what competition do they have? none. in the end, 99% of the customers will hire them to do any changes, even if is a css change or a 3-5 line codding. that is why this is unforgivable.

"A fully functional script" is a mith. true even for microsoft wich has $$$$$. at least in here, a version of script is working almost complete and the bugs are fixed for free. in ilance, i discover the bugs (for free) and to get a fix maybe in 1 day or in 1 year (yep, 1 year) i have to pay each year to have access to fixes. and olso, the fixes made each week usualy break other functions so in the end is a round circle. like someone from magento said once, by each fix we end up with unsolved bugs and olso with new bugs added to the script. this is valid especialy for ilance (where fixes are done each day) or less valid for flynax where we have new revisions from 6 to 6 months.

to have a real change of progress with fewer bugs, a script should be released as beta, had 10-20 testers to discover any bug, developers should fix all the bugs and when all bugs are fixed, make it public. after that, ask the users what other features do they need, make a list with what will be added, work on it and when all new features are inserted, make a new beta and start again with testing and repeat the process. this concept is missing from flynax or ilance or other scripts. and as a result we have bugs and bugs. anyway, we are waisting our time with this. good luck with the bootstrap and i prey to succeed (you deserve all the credit by the fact that you spend your time and release free of charge your work- this is a rare thing these days)

Steffen Buschkemper
December 30, 2013, 09:38 PM
...

Let's be honest.
All customers are Flynax bug tester from the date where they buy the script.
You can see it here in the forum.
But if Flynax is not able to fix these bugs and also in the current versions, some of the bugs are still present, then something is not ok in their work flow.
And at this point, must be changed something.

... 10-20 testers to discover any bug ...

Is a good idea.
It's not like we're talking to Flynax all bad.
We as a customer want also help that the script is better than the competitors... ;)
But let us stop times to discuss here.
This thread here is for a bootstrap template

Just to throw something else into the equation.

Currently flynax provide finished themes. My idea is flynax create a very basic theme, with pretty much basic style elements so its very plain looking with limited graphics, style elements and css.

This can be then used as a template base for users to develop their own themes nearly from scratch.

Whether they do this as a responsive design or the normal template design for desktop and mobile or even all 3.

Any thoughts as i will put this idea to them

Hi Chris,

I am currently building a bootstrap template private for me.
This workshop is only a quote from me for interested.
I think that anyone can contribute to this project.

However, myself have only the general script.
Also therefore this work shop.
So that the conditions of the other scripts can be included with this bootstrap template.

Of course, a minimalistic template would be an alternative, but some basic knowledge must also be present there.
However, i would like to take today's opportunities in this theme.

Best regards
Steffen

I'm thinking of blocks where you actually can insert bootstrap items as they come morely as ready to use. If we could easily insert Flynax code into the blocks or frames, then we could built whatever we want but it is the framework that is important and the ease the customers can add listings and view listings that is important.

Hi Morgan,

Bootstrap includes a comprehensive grid system.
You have to hold still adjust a few things in flynax script.
But that's no problem.

I also have added a icon feature for my navigation menu.
I have added just one more field in add page and a column in the database.
Now i can create buttons with icons and text in easy way.

The same can i use for the grid system.
It is more flexible now. Just fantastic, what opportunities are there now.

Just basic for try-out. I'm guessing I have to build a new header from scratch. Have you any problems with the page when you click on one menu item and the whole header refresh instead of just the body with the content?

Hi Morgan,

i have uploaded on Google with better quality.
The problem you have i think is, that you not change the page content to html5.
Also some js from flynax can make conflicts.

In no event will develop on a live-switched side.
I do it on a local installation in a new template folder. (e.g. general_bootstrap)

Regards
Steffen

Steffen Buschkemper
January 1, 2014, 07:32 PM
All of the following steps must be taken to start with bootstrap.

1. First step
make a local flynax installation.
Create a new template Folder name e.g. general_bootstrap
Copy all files from existing flynax template in the created folder.

Clear all css and all js files but not libs.js (that can we do later if all js code is adapted to bootstrap.js)
Now you have a blank and not designed page.

After that you must copy the bootstrap.css and bootstrap.js in the folder css and js.
Also all images from bootstrap and if you use also fonts and icons.

2. Second Step

In header.tpl you must change the doc type to html5.
Example you can see in the bootstrap example files.

Next i have created a new style.css and included the bootstrap.css file in this follow

@import url("/bootstrap.css");

the style.css must included in header.
The bootstrap.js must included in footer.tpl also all other js e.g. jQuery.js (i use the new 1.10) and so on. Its better for page speed.

And know you can start to create/design your own custom template.
All files (block, content etc...) must rewritten for bootstrap.

Steffen

Nice Steffen,
I solved my problems as I had yesterday and I made a simpler navbar with bootstrap element.

First, in your template/header.tpl

<link href="{$rlTplBase}css/bootstrap.css"type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" />
<script type="text/javascript" src="{$smarty.const.RL_LIBS_URL}javascript/bootstrap.min.js"></script>

Of course you have to upload the js and CSS to the right folders first.

Then in your main_menu.tpl (I use just navbar pills as it fits for me but very easy to have navbar, navbar-static-top, tabs etc.)

<ul class="nav nav-pills">
{foreach name='mMenu' from=$main_menu item='mainMenu'}<li {if $page == $mainMenu.Path}class="active"{/if}><a {if $mainMenu.No_follow || $mainMenu.Login}rel="nofollow" {/if}title="{$mainMenu.title}" href="{if $mainMenu.Page_type != 'external'}{$rlBase}{/if}{if $pageInfo.Controller != 'add_listing' && $mainMenu.Controller == 'add_listing' && !empty($category.Path) && !$category.Lock}{if $config.mod_rewrite}{$mainMenu.Path}/{$category.Path}/{$steps.plan.path}.html{else}?page={$mainMenu.Path }&amp;step={$steps.plan.path}&amp;id={$category.ID}{/if}{else}{if $mainMenu.Page_type == 'external'}{$mainMenu.Controller}{else}{if $config.mod_rewrite}{if $mainMenu.Path != ''}{$mainMenu.Path}.html{$mainMenu.Get_vars}{/if}{else}{if $mainMenu.Path != ''}?page={$mainMenu.Path}{$mainMenu.Get_vars|repla ce:'?':'&amp;'}{/if}{/if}{/if}{/if}">{$mainMenu.name}</a></li>{/foreach}

If you have static menus and is not intending to add through the system, you can give direct paths.

Morgan Bohman
January 2, 2014, 09:18 AM
And here is the bootstrap.css

AH can not post it because of exceeding 1000 characters. Anyway, If someone want it, pls mail me (Head over to my site)

So if you wanna use it for a simple menu on the Simple Blue theme, you can use this.

More to come as I intend to build, just like Steffen, complete header.

Good morning Morgan,

Your implementation of the navigation as boothstrap is already a good start.
But remember that we want a responsive design template at the end.
HTML5 is best suited for this.

Another video of my results, i will present tonight.
A better header and footer design.
Then there are also new tips and new code from me in this thread.

There is a lot of work, but worth in the end.

Hello Steffen Buschkemper

I have successfully implemented the grid system so my template is partly responsive just a few more elements to fix. :)
The proplem I am having is that:
1. I want to change the class for the form elements so they can be responsive like the drop-down and input boxes. Where can I find them?
2. I used the simple red template and I want to delete the "more" option in the navigation bar since my navbar is now responsive I don't need it and it is messing with the layout of the new bootstrap navbar.

Those are the problems for now. Can you are any please help?

#2- just comment or get rid of this in main_menu.tpl

<!--<li class="more"><a href="javascript:void(0)" rel="nofollow">{$lang.menu_more}</a><img class="arrow" alt="" src="{$rlTplBase}img/blank.gif" /></li>

Thanks for the reply but I already tried this. It gets rid of the more option but the links that would normally be under the more option is still not visible.

That's what I am saying I thought this should fix it too but it looks like there is another function that is triggered when the browser window is at a certain width.

Hello Morgan and Kemoid,

this is for example my menu code:

<!-- main menu block -->
<ul id="jetmenu" class="jetmenu">
{foreach name='mMenu' from=$main_menu item='mainMenu'}
<li {if $page == $mainMenu.Path}class="active"{/if}><a {if $mainMenu.No_follow || $mainMenu.Login}rel="nofollow" {/if}title="{$mainMenu.title}" href="{if $mainMenu.Page_type != 'external'}{$rlBase}{/if}{if $pageInfo.Controller != 'add_listing' && $mainMenu.Controller == 'add_listing' && !empty($category.Path) && !$category.Lock}{if $config.mod_rewrite}{$mainMenu.Path}/{$category.Path}/{$steps.plan.path}.html{else}?page={$mainMenu.Path }&amp;step={$steps.plan.path}&amp;id={$category.ID}{/if}{else}{if $mainMenu.Page_type == 'external'}{$mainMenu.Controller}{else}{if $config.mod_rewrite}{if $mainMenu.Path != ''}{$mainMenu.Path}.html{$mainMenu.Get_vars}{/if}{else}{if $mainMenu.Path != ''}?page={$mainMenu.Path}{$mainMenu.Get_vars|repla ce:'?':'&amp;'}{/if}{/if}{/if}{/if}">{if !empty($mainMenu.Icon)}{if $mainMenu.Controller == 'home'}<span><i class="{$mainMenu.Icon}"></i></span>{else}<i class="{$mainMenu.Icon}"></i>{/if}{/if} {if $mainMenu.Controller != 'home'} {$mainMenu.name}{/if}</a></li>
{/foreach}
<li class="right">
<div id="sb-search" class="sb-search">
<form method="post" action="{$rlBase}{if $config.mod_rewrite}{$pages.search}.html{else}?pag e={$pages.search}{/if}">
<input type="hidden" name="form" value="keyword_search" />
<input class="sb-search-input" id="autocomplete search-box" type="text" maxlength="255" name="f[keyword_search]" {if $smarty.post.f.keyword_search}value="{$smarty.post.f.keyword_search}"{/if}/>
<input class="sb-search-submit" type="submit" value=""><i class="sb-icon-search"></i>
</form>
</div>
</li>
</ul>
<!-- main menu block end -->

But in this code - the buttons has icons and text.
For icons you must change some flynax core and add a field in database.
Also smarty tag {$mainMenu.Icon} must created.

I will post an detailed howto for icon classes in next days.

1. I want to change the class for the form elements so they can be responsive like the drop-down and input boxes. Where can I find them?

Check follow files:

fields_refine.tpl
field.tpl
field_out.tpl
fieldset block
fieldset_header.tpl

Also rlCommon.class.php and also system.lib.php are interested parts for changing or adding field types.

Hi Kemoid,

Yeah my code was only a example.
I wanted to show that i have the more part just deleted.

I have also changed some bootstrap css classes for my template. (not original bootstrap classes for menu)
I use jetmenu and multimenu (later for multi demension menus) for my navigations.
But why you mean, that no chance to style? You can style everything. That should be no problem.

Picture and video examples from my changes comes later in few hours.

Here again the link from the first video -> Header Video (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzfPJG8SvaeyZDg0M0JHZDFfNmM/edit?usp=sharing)
Is now released for all. Sorry was my mistake...

All of the following steps must be taken to start with bootstrap.

1. First step
make a local flynax installation.

can you name an addon for firefox that works ok (if you know)?

olso, since you develop a bootstrap theme, will you share the source so we can customise from that?

olso, will you change the whole script like grid/list, image viewer for photos/videos and the tabs system?

Steffen Buschkemper
January 3, 2014, 11:06 AM
Hello Petrache,

This tool is integrated directly in firefox. Nothing more needs to be installed. ;)

If my bootstrap theme is ready i will share the source.
Of course i will change all to bootstrap framework, also grid/list, photos/videos, tabs, uploads etc....
Either all or nothing... We intend to improve and not make worse. ;)

But one thing i must say in advance.
I have in my flynax script added many modifications and improvements
But that should be no problem for your own bootstrap theme.

You can also ask here in this thread everything.
Therefore, also the workshop.
We should create a ToDo list.
For example, we start with the header, then Content and next Footer.
After that the content items such as boxes, field types and scripts and so on...
So i would suggest.

As anyone can join and make suggestions for the parts that we are currently editing.
So it would also a good solution for "amateurs".

Bootstrap Theme Workshop

1. Grid Structure of page

The first part is a brief introduction of grid structure for flynax bootstrap theme.
The layout for flynax has follow parts.

Full Side = 1 column
Sidebar Left -> Content = 2 column
Content -> Sidebar Right = 2 column
Left -> Content -> Right = 3 column

Bootstrap provides this at the following layouts

Full Side = 100%
For responsive we must use for the booth content div follow class:

<div class="container">
<div class="col-lg-12 col-md-12 col-sm-12"> // without sidebars </div>
</div>

Sidebar Left -> Content

<div class="container">
<div class="col-lg-3 col-md-3 col-sm-12 sidebar-left"> // sidebar left </div>
<div class="col-lg-9 col-md-9 col-sm-12 content"> // content </div>
</div>

Content -> Sidebar Right

<div class="container">
<div class="col-lg-9 col-md-9 col-sm-12 content"> // content </div>
<div class="col-lg-3 col-md-3 col-sm-12 sidebar-right"> // sidebar right </div>
</div>

Left -> Content -> Right

<div class="container">
<div class="col-lg-3 col-md-3 col-sm-12 sidebar-left"> // sidebar left </div>
<div class="col-lg-6 col-md-6 col-sm-12 content"> // content </div>
<div class="col-lg-3 col-md-3 col-sm-12 sidebar-right"> // sidebar right </div>
</div>

col-lg-12, col-md-12, col-sm-12 -> width: 100%
col-lg-9, col-md-9 -> width: 75%
col-lg-6, col-md-6 -> width: 50%
col-lg-3 col-md-3 -> width: 25%

It distinguishes between the following media sizes

lg = large (Desktop or Laptop)
md = middle (Tablets)
sm = small (Smartphones, Handys)

The real media size will defined by div class container (div.container) through css.
For example

@media (min-width: 768px) {
.container {
max-width: 750px;
}

.col-sm-1,
.col-sm-2,
.col-sm-3,
.col-sm-4,

// and so on

}

With this basic structure we have the Flynax Layout Structure.
There are more grid styles, but i think thats the best for Flynax Bootstrap Template basic structur at begin.

I will later publish the code for the custom content.tpl in this thread.

Steffen

i was not a fan as well but, by each day, the mobile usage grows. if 3 years ago, online shopping from phones or tablets was a joke, today, many people navigate online from such mobile devices, with different resolutions for the screens.
you can use http://cybercrab.com/screencheck/ to add your website for instance and see how "great" is for a mobile phone or tablet user to navigate your website, search or add a listing.

time means change and we need to adapt fast to keep beeing in the first pack (we are late now but responsive design done by flynax or by great developers like Steffen will correct this).

Hi Guys,

I prepare for the second Part of this workshop.
In this second part, i would like to prepare together with you the flynax script to bootstrap.
We will make changes and add new features in a few files and database.
For example, for:

Layout Structur
Grid-System
Query helper

For the layout i have an important question.
How important are the three column design?
I mean this => Sidebar Left -> Content <- Sidebar Right

Would following suffice you, to make better use of the content?
For those who do think it would be worse for advertising... On the contrary!
Advertising can turn anywhere on the website, thanks grid layout.

<- Full Top -> // included
--------------------------------------
Sidebar-Left -> Content // or
<- Full Content -> // or
Content <- Sidebar Right
--------------------------------------
<- Full Bottom -> // included

We have to agree, so i can take this into account when programming.
This all sounds very complicated. But it is not so.

Best regards
Steffen

You're wrong. ;)
We still have <- Full Top -> also <- Full Bottom -> ;)
This is better as before.

In Full Top and Full Bottom fit either for example:

- 1 very very big Banner
- 2 big (medium) Banner
- 3 small Banner
- 12 micro Banner -> How on the - One Million Page -. LoL

and much more variations... ;)

And there are not even the possibilities of sliders for advertising included in the calculation.
Advertising can be placed anywhere.
Except in Footer... ;)

Your miss understanding again Steffen I have full top and full bottom from my previous template and I transferred them to my new template. I am saying that I have 2 columns instead of three because I did not add the right column. The only thing I used it for was skyscraper ads (160x600) which is outdated and would not work in a responsive design.

Every bootstrap theme is easy to modify, either through LESS or CSS. You can even have a theme selector if you want. The grid for a basic theme is easiest to start with like this http://wrapbootstrap.com/preview/WB01KF12C which is a very nice theme.

Good morning Petrache,

What you mean with

top area splited in 2 sections

If you mean the Full Top Area, this can you split - any way you like, as i have invented something nice.
More on this later. I work and test just the changes before i publish it here. ;)

But a short insight i give all interested.

At page creation now a layout is assigned.
The blocks can be assigned to the areas directly.
Thus either in the sidebar, content, top or bottom.
How and where to place the box, will decide on the position and the grid declarations.
Every page or block can you give a extra class or id. Its better for designing somthing better.

Everything remains backward compatible to the flynax templates, despite the changes in the script.

try to see category page from that template ( http://czsale.sensemedia.cz/category.html) and you will see that on phones it looks bad - an ad is splited in columns wich is pretty bad becouse the description area is non existing (verry thin). overall it is ok but just a remainder that we have to pay attention to details and check it well to cover all aspects.

i propose that once Steffen will release the finished template with instructions, we all install it and sit down and check it very well to cover all functions and find any bugs. once all reported bugs are solved, we will have a pure skeleton that is perfect and from that anyone can start customising it like it wishes and so, be convinced that any issue that may apear is comming from his customisation.

if you go in flynax admin area, content-content boxes, there you can use /create a new one and place it in different position like
left
top
bottom
middle left
middle right
right

i am using in home page 2 content boxes , one placed as middle left (field bound box - a map more precise, similar to the one used by Morgan in his website) and another as middle right (as categories).

so, will we have this freedom of choice to place the blocks from admin area where we need? as we do in flynax now.

Steffen Buschkemper
January 4, 2014, 09:12 AM
Of course.
That remains as it is now also.
But in a different way.
For flynax was this side - declaration a helper for there table structure and
page layout. I'll try to use less tables so that you are flexible in design.

At bootstrap, this can be realized through additional class declarations.
As example nested or offset...
This sounds complicated, but it is not.

Morgan Bohman
January 4, 2014, 09:12 AM
Aha I see. What I meant is the in the CSS you can change viewport for the look by visual hide or show different objects in different resolutions or different media and by that, totally control how it should look like. F.i. the slider shouldn't be visible in a small smartphone but for a tablet it should. I think a retina display should be considered when mocking up a theme like this. Also you could render your layout in Photoshop and use this in the CSS. There are some smart tools for this.
For purpose testing I use Pingendo which is a free tool. You can start with simple layouts or insert downloaded layouts, fiddle the code and view it directly in the browser. When layout is ready, you upload it to your domain or XAMP or VAMP.

The Flynax bone-structure is nice as it is easy to add blocks from within the AP and together with a flexible theme, this is a killer. Imagine how many open "theme plugins" we could create.

Morgan, what i initialy said is to pay attention to the details. the template you mentioned is fine (responsive) except that area i mentioned. that's all. i know that the responsivness can be altered to fit proper on different devices but since this is a finished theme, that issue is not ok. i've sean lots of themes advertised as responsive and when you sit and digg the features.... i try to avoid this so we can have a perfect skeleton

Petrache Nicolae
January 4, 2014, 09:35 AM
Of course.
That remains as it is now also.

that is good, even if i will have issues becouse my map is 600px wide i think and the mobile devices have a 320 width (when viewed in portrait mode). any sugestions how i can shrink the map when viewed for less than 600px?

So guys,

So now guys, i am awake again.
Was a long night.

Nice megamenu.
I'm thinking all the time about this.
How can the best way to be achieved such feature, so that we can realize mega menus.
I think, that i have the solution.

Menus are indeed generated at the sites creation.
You should really just add another field may also be 2, by declaring whether it is declared as a parent or child.
Then you can also create mega menus without problems.

Steffen, will we have grid and list view in your template?

Of course... Why not. ;)

any sugestions how i can shrink the map when viewed for less than 600px?

By you declare that in the css.
Depending on how you adding the map in the template, this already works automatically.
Furthermore, i've added a few things. So you can control this manually in admin panel.

//Steffen

Petrache Nicolae
January 4, 2014, 08:40 PM
Steffen, i like that megamenu alot, performs well as responsivness, so, if you do not manage to find a solution to have it properly generated from the website, i will buy it anyway and implement it with static links like i've done in ilance script. beside the parent or child we still need to have an image upload for the category image as well. so an extra work.

since i'll buy it anyway, i can send it so you can take a look on how is done and maybe you get an ideea how to implement it if you like it and other users as well (in the end each of us can pay 5$ to that developer to use it).

Hello Kemoid and Chris

Kemoid of course bootstrap is realy simple. ;)

Chris at the time i bring flynax still in bootstrap and i am working on a local server.
All my changes are a small expense that must be operated as first.

Of course, everyone can embed bootstrap without core changes to the flynax script for test.
But that is only half the work.

Once i have completed the changes to the Flynax script, i will publish the first part here.
Also important is the downward compatibility to the normal flynax themes.
That's why it takes a bit.

Here some examples:

http://i43.tinypic.com/345mmhj.png

http://i39.tinypic.com/b4c2fm.png

But there is more...
Let yourself be surprised what all is possible.
Also suggestions i will be happy to consider, wherever possible any special.

Hi Guys,

Here is a short interim report.
The last two days I have made thoughts, how to improve many things.

First i set the page layout and leave it with the extra 3 column layout.
Thus arise in the layout 4 options + 2 -> Large Top (for Sliders or other Informations) and Large Bottom.

FULL TOP
_________________________________________
<- content ->
<- left sidebar -> <- content -> <- right sidebar ->
<- left sidebar -> <- content ->
<- content -> <- right sidebar ->
_________________________________________

FULL BOTTOM

Depending on which blocks are represented by their placement on a page - affects the layout of the page.
For blocks there is therefore a "new" setting -> Side-Placement
In the picture you see the following options.

http://i44.tinypic.com/256sbh3.png

Of course there was this before too. ;)

But there is now a second setting -> Content-Placement
This setting is responsible for the placement within the content area.
Also in this picture you see the following options.

http://i39.tinypic.com/546dqx.png

We now distinguish between layout and content area.
This gives us more design possibilities.

Other features are optional classes and ids, and the assign to a icon class.
The complete new creation page for blocks comes here.

http://i44.tinypic.com/17973a.png

As soon as i have some time i will present you a demo video to understanding this new features.

Best regards

Hi Guys,

it takes a little longer.
I must first replace the fckeditor.
For the following reasons:

does not support html5 tags
dismembered tags
too many br tags are inserted
not a clean code

the alternative ckeditor does also not support html5.
Tiny MCE editor is for me no alternative so i want to dodge and either aloha editor, or insert another.

Also the same as a tip for the Flynax team to change this very old and not more supported fckeditor in Flynax 5.
In the frontend, it may still go, but in the admin panel under any circumstances.

I have truly hoped for response from Flynax team ... But ...
So it just takes a little longer because it has to be changed many files.
Please give me the time.

OK Guys,

After the test of some wysiwyg editors, i decided for one where i thought it would be no alternative.
TinyMCE 4.0.12.

Why not the other?
Either they cost a "lot" of money, missing features or they are no longer supported.

The only exception would be the aloha editor.
But aloha editor is not quite mature enough at this time.
It lacks functional possibilities for the image upload, and the direct input of source code does not work properly yet.
This editor will replace in my opinion, eventually the tinymce. If he is a little matured.

Sure. Also the tinymce has here and there a few quirks, but on the whole it is compared to all, the best choice.
The code is now validated clean.
If there are problems with some validation, you can also declare exceptions.

The only cost ($9) for tinymce was a modified image uploader.
Ok here some pictures now.

...check the Facebook content of Flynax which they mention version 4.3...

Now that we can surprise us sometimes.
We let surprise us. But i think, that there will not be many innovations.
The question that arises is the following.
For which scripts there will be a responsive template end of January?
Only Auto?
Which SEO optimizations have been made?

Furthermore, it shows once again that the 4.2 was an absolute flop.
In such a short time from 4.2 to 4.3... :O
Because let's wait times.

Morgan Bohman
January 12, 2014, 04:38 PM
Petrache,
If you are looking to use a different language than English, go to our language download page.

Download your language files

If you wish to join in on translating, go to our Transifex translation page and sign up, then request to join a team or create a new team if your language are not listed.

Installing a language pack

Download one or more languages here.
Unpack files into your tinymce/langs folder
In your tinymce.init({...}) config, set the language option to whatever language you want, example:
language : 'sv_SE',
And you are done, load up TinyMCE and check the new language.

Hello. Can you tell me if you covered already the blocks in flynax? i have in my script my country map displayed in home page in middle left block and since we will have a responsive template i buyed a responsive map. i implement it just to find out that the map is not responsive as in demo. than, i asked why just to realise that the blocks are fixed, becouse they are inside a table. so the map can't resize becouse the table container is not responsive. so, is this done already and is working fine? thanks

January 15, 2014, 11:07 AM
Hello Petrache,

I have no map on my home page.
This is either a customization or you have the real estate script.

i buyed a responsive map

Do you have a link to this responsive map?

Regular map (real estate) would have to be its own map.tpl.
It is not responsive in its current form since you are working with fixed coords.
Anyway, you can recalculate this with jquery when changing the size.
To customize this i would need the image and the map.tpl
That should work without problems.

However, it begs the question - If this map on small screens still make sense?
On tablets it would be ok - but on smartphones?

since i do not use the left sidebar block for account and login, i forgot about those 2. so, it remains the facebook connect wich we must have in same page. olso, since you joined these 2 sections (register/log in), did you made just 1 button in the usernavbar or we still have 2 of those + the facebook login icon?

you can see it in action in http://general.demoflynax.com/

or, you can login as usual with

Username: dealer
Password: demo

and in this case the facebook login is hidden.

many users do have facebook and prefere to login like this, without account creation. the facebook login should show as well ,if you allow adding a ad without account creation, in the process of creating an ad, since flynax didn't bother to add it in that area as well

No action - the APP id and secret is not registered... ;)
Ok it was false from me. APP id and secret is registered..
But still does not work... :confused

Well that would only be possible if facebook connect directly integrated into the system.
The problem is the following, not everyone allowed add listings without full registration. Not everyone offers free advertise.
Since then it takes more than just a username and password for registration and login.
It needs a complete registration with name, address, phone etc...

It then bites her with facebook connect.
This quickly becomes very complex all.
Since the complete registration logic must be customized and rewritten.

That is not acurate.
If you looked at emag.ro, that is an online shop wich allows this from begining. why? becouse when you buy a product you will fill in anyway a form with the real username and adress and data becouse you get an invoice based on those so it is in your interest to do so. Do not confuse an site account with the personal data that you must fill in at a point.

same thing applies in flynax. you can create a regular account and write that your name is GOD or DEVIL, and that doesn't mean that you can control if the data that a user fills in is acurate (since you do not ask for a id card). as for the payed plans, it doesn't matter since you pay with paypal or other and you must login into your account in wich you have already filled in the real data. so again, these are different

Ok here now all fields that i have changed for flynax bootstrap theme at this time.
It looks simple, but is very complex in flynax script.
Flynax generated the fields in different files.

http://i43.tinypic.com/24decso.png

The dropdown for category has now a live search part for fast select of certain category.

http://i40.tinypic.com/2vulnpi.png

I have also dispense with tables structure, which is applied in each flynax template.
Tables only there where they are really needed.
The entire template structure on flynax templates based on tables.
The times are all over to squeeze into tables. This is out of date.

I'm already excited to see how it looks in the responsive template of flynax.

Steffen Buschkemper
January 23, 2014, 06:20 PM
Hello Kemoid,

A few are still missing.
But that is simply because i still try out which is quite useful for these fields.
For example, for the year field - dropdown or slider or the multi checkbox fieldset.
I am concerned about the "ease of use" and the design aesthetics.
Changes are later to be made difficult, as these designs are permanently defined in the flynax script.

Steffen Buschkemper is doing this work alone becouse only he knows programming and the result would be a flynax and bootstrap join, in other words a responsive script by default, eliminating the need for applications like android or iphone applications.
This will be free (i know, unbeliveble in these days to find such person who is doing this)
This should work on any version, becouse the flynax script is in general the same, with just some differences like states map for realty or listings banner in auto wich will be the last to be deal with as Steffen said.

Will flynax add it to their download area`?

Hello Maaz,

thank you for your interest.

Will flynax add it to their download area`?

Definitely not.

Flynax will publish at the end of this month a responsive template for the auto script.
No one knows on which framework it is based. On request there was no reply.

However, i personally go a step further.
With a responsive template alone - it is unfortunately not done.
The reasons for this could you read already here in this thread and discussions.
As an example is mentioned the old fckeditor - this is a no-go for html5.

Also, the script must be customized and extended with bootstrap functions.
As for example grid settings for blocks and more ways for placement.
Only then you can design your pages and content flexible.

How long time will it take to be finished?

Now everything takes time...
I'm working hard on this project.

Donates the money to flynax.
Maybe we will get something support from the flynax dev team fot this project? ;)

Best regards.
