    SPAM prevention and instructions for email configuration

    E-mail configuration for Flynax Software

    Flynax Software supports two types of e-mail protocols: phpmail and SMTP.
    [attachment=0:5g1rlizm]flynax-mail-configurations.jpg[/attachment:5g1rlizm]
    Configuring phpmail:

    1. Login into admin panel;
    2. Go to Configurations -> E-mail;
    3. Enter your email address in the fields: "Notification/Bugs e-mail address" and "Site main E-mail."

    CAUTION: When configuring phpmail you should use an email account associated with your domain name, for example if you run http://www.yourdomain.com the email address that you are supposed to use should be sample@yourdomain.com (sample can be replaced with whatever you choose). We strongly recommend against using email addresses created with Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail etc.

    The reason for recommending against using these E-mail Services is that spam filters automatically identify emails sent under Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail accounts and others, which are not associated with your domain name, as spam. For example, you use http://www.yourdomain.com and you've entered john@gmail.com in the field "Site main E-mail" in admin panel; so a parameter FROM for outgoing emails will be set as gmail.com while emails are sent through http://www.yourdomain.com.

    Configuring SMPT:

    1. Login into admin panel;
    2. Go to Configuration -> E-mail;
    3. As for SMPT protocol you can use any email address: Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail etc.
    You will have to switch from "Mail method" under SMPT mode and fill in the fields below:

    SMTP server: usually it is mail.YOURDOMAIN.com: 25 (we recommend checking with your hosting support); where: 25 is a port; usually SMTP port 25 or 26 (we recommend checking with your hosting support);
    SMTP Server Username: usually username+YOURDOMAIN.com (we recommend checking with your hosting support);
    SMTP Server Password: password to your email account.

    Hello John,

    would it be possible to make the saved SMTP Server Password not clearly readable?
    I think it will be a security risk and it should be encrypted.

    Perhaps you can think about it for the next version?

    Thanks & best regards
    Andreas
